Peterson Parodies Presentation

Kingman 8th graders had the opportunity to hear a guest speaker at the high school.  Greg Peterson was his name and he talked to Them about what he liked doing--farming. His family consists of a father and mother, two brothers and a sister. They do parodies about agriculture.  They pick songs and then post the parodies on Youtube. He said he has been to many of places around the world talking about his song parodies. He said that he would hear other songs on the radio then turn them into a song parodies.

8th graders were asked about their favorite song parody of the Peterson Farm Brothers. Deanna Cheatum, Kasey Picket, Lucas Streight and Garrett Willert said they liked the song “I’m Farming and I Grow It” parody. Nate Myrick, Kane Milford and Eric Fairchild picked “Chore.” Cory Drake picked the “I’m So Farmer” parody.

The eighth graders felt the presentation was a worthwhile experience.  The Kingman Farm Bureau provided grilled hamburgers for the whole school.  It was a fun day for all involved.

Friday the 13th!! Oh no!!

Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th in both February and March! The middle school students and middle school teachers where asked these questions: “Do you celebrate Friday the 13th?” Three out of 25 said yes, the other 22 said no. “What will you be doing on the 13th?” Bobbi Fairchild said sleeping, Cady Zoeller said she will be at Madelyn's house, Mr. Garrison said he will be playing basketball, Konner Thornton said he will be at school, Wyatt Smith said nothing, Mr. Walters said he will be at a basketball game, Lucas Streight said he will be with Kane Milford.
The next question was “Have you ever seen the movie Friday the 13th?” Eleven out of 33 said yes. The last question was “Do you think Friday the 13th is a cursed day?” Four out of 25 said yes and the other 21 said no. Some people may think that Friday the 13th is a bad day, but actually it is just a normal day. There is a movie called Friday the 13th which is about a guy named Jason that kills people. The movie is harsh, but every Friday is the day Jason goes and kills people. Some people like to do risky things on that day.  Friday the 13th isn’t a holiday, but some people treat it like one.  Have a great Friday the 13th!

Don't Be a Bully!!

We have all ready had red-ribbon week, but it’s important to be aware that bullying can happen anytime.  The whole school was asked three questions about bullying. The questions were “How much do you see bullying?”, “Are you a bully?”, and  “Should teachers be more strict towards bullies?”  In answer to the first question, “How much do you see bullying?” everyone had three choices: a lot, sometimes, or not at all.  Most people said “sometimes.”  A few people said “a lot.” Barely anyone said “not at all.”   The second question was “Are you a bully?”  Almost every single person said “no.”  A few kids were honest and said “yes, they were bullies sometimes.”  The third question was “Should teachers be more strict toward bullies?” Every single person said “yes, they should.”

The More You Know...

Are you more scared of sharks, or high school and college football? The facts are high school and college football are actually more dangerous than sharks. There’s one fatal shark attack every two years, while twelve high school and college football players die each year. What do you think is the most dangerous, riding in motor vehicles, or planes? The chance of being killed in a motor vehicle is one in 7,700. While the chance of being killed in a plane is one in eleven million. Some Kingman Middle schoolers were asked one of the two questions. Noah Smith and Deanna Cheatum were asked what do they think is more dangerous, sharks, or high school and college football? Deanna Cheatum said that she thought sharks were more dangerous, Noah Smith, on the other hand, thought high school football was more dangerous, but he still did say sharks are scarier. Bailey Beck and Alex Bennett were asked what are they more scared of, planes or cars? Alex Bennett and Bailey Beck said that planes were scarier, but as a side note Bailey Beck said that he knew cars are more dangerous, but planes are still scarier. The more you know…

Favorite Sport??

Football has always been said to be the best sport, but is it true? Here's what the Kingman teachers and students chose.  Mrs. Clover and Lucas Streight chose basketball and Kane Milford, Garrett Willert, Kasey Pickett, Eric Fairchild, DJ Hoyt, Cory Drake, and Noah Smith chose football.

Sports Facts:

Eight man football uses three less players than the 11 man game.

It takes 600 cows to make one full season's worth of NFL footballs.  In addition, cows only have a 1 in 17,420,000 chance of becoming an NFL football.

The “G” on Green Bay helmets actually stands for “Greatness”.

Basketball became an olympic event in 1936 in Berlin, Germany.

Did you know that repeated bouncing of the ball was illegal in Naismith’s original rules?

American football is the only sport that causes more injuries than basketball.
