Quote of the Week

 Quote of the Week
If you're not willing to work hard, let someone else do it. I'd rather be with someone who does a horrible job, but gives 110% than with someone who does a good job and gives 60%.

Archery Tournament

The archery tournament is scheduled for April 5, 2014. Mr. Wilmot, the archery coach, was interviewed. One question that he was asked was, “What are you most ready for in the tournament?” He said that he was most looking forward to seeing how much the kids have improved. Another question that he was asked was, “Do you like target shooting or real life shooting.” He said that he likes shooting outside better than inside shooting at a target. He likes it better because he can shoot at a moving object. Gage Pickering, Kate Reid, Myah Munz, and Brant Harnden will be going to go to the tournament in Hays.

Zonkey???

A Zonkey is a rare animal to encounter. In Florence, Italy, this rare animal was born. Her name is Ippo; her mother is a donkey and her father a zebra. Her father and mother met when her father jumped his fence into the donkey enclosure. Her mother gave birth twelve months later to little Ippo. Unlike many hybrids that don’t live a full life, Ippo has a great chance to live a long and plentiful life at the animal reserve.

Unlike Ippo, a Zedonk is when the mother is a zebra and the father is a donkey. Unfortunately, both zedonks and zonkes cannot have an offspring of their own. The two of these animals can live in the wild. This is possible because both zebras and donkeys live in close proximity to one another in parts of Africa. Most of the zonkes live in zoos all around the world instead of the wild because they are so rare.

Books or Movies???

Have you ever read a book and then seen the movie? Did you notice something in the movie that made it better or worse than the book? Many people do and even pick sides on whether the book or movie was better. Many people say books are better because you can imagine the characters the way you want. Others say movies are better because they take less time. The people who prefer books often say that the movies leave out important events and warp the story. Those who prefer movies sometimes say that added scenes help the story and going by the book would be boring. Out of the middle school 7/8 people think the book or books are better than the movies. Out of those who like the books, 4/7 say the books are better because they have more detail. Two of the seven thought the books were best because the movies messed up the characters. The other person who likes the books said the movies didn’t follow the story. The person who enjoys the movies better said it is because the movies didn’t take as long as the books.

Teachers' Pets

Teachers were asked,  "What is your favorite pet?  Mrs. Austin prefers dogs because they are loyal and happy all of the time. Mr. Waldshmidt prefers dogs. His favorite pet is his Labradors because he loves hunting with them. Mrs. Milford prefers dogs because they are loyal and her dog is very protective towards her. Mrs. Huelskamp prefers guinea pigs. Mrs. Huelskamp thinks guinea pigs are funny because she has one at her house. Mr. Munz prefers dogs because if he put one in a trunk for a day, when he opened it, it would hug him and still love him. If Mr. Munz put any other pet in a trunk, they would be angry at him and hit him with a bat. Most of the teachers prefer dogs. If you prefer dogs, maybe you will be the next teacher walking the Kingman Elementary and Middle School halls.
