Snow--In April??!!!

Snow in April in Kansas? Snow! Yes, a day after a strong line of thunderstorms moved through, it was snowing. Kingman ended up going from 80s to snow as temperatures reached into the 80s Saturday and then Sunday evening it was snowing.  This year Kingman has had a lot of snow. Kansan’s weather is “Bipolar."  Because of all the snow, schools have been canceled a lot more than normal. At least five April calendar days have tallied over a foot of snow, dating to 1874. Some cities in the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast pick up April, even May snowfall, in some years.  The Black Hills of South Dakota are known for piling up several feet of snow in spring blizzards.  The May 2008 blizzard dumped up to four feet of snow there. The rest of this week has some more weather drama to play out.  It will warm back up Wednesday before another cold blast and a storm approaches the area Wednesday night and Thursday.
