Embarrassing Confessions

Everyone has had embarrassing moments!  They vary from having two broken wrists to walking into a glass door.  These embarrassing confessions are from Kingman Elementary/Middle School teachers and students. Danica Kostner, an eighth grader, fell in the same spot three times on the same day. Ms. Donna, preschool teacher, accidentally walked into the men's restroom several times. Jaden Capps, another eighth grader, spilled pop on his pants and made it look like he had an accident.  Mr. Munz, middle school math teacher, broke both of his wrists at the same time when he was younger. Whitney Bauma, para, said her most embarrassing moment was when Samantha Youngers was having difficulties, so Whitney told Samantha Youngers to "suck it up!"  The students were getting drinks at the time and one little kid overheard, so Whitney had to sit in the time out chair for one minute.  Mr.Waldschmidt, middle school science teacher, was hunting with his brothers and brothers-in-law when he saw a deer in the middle of the field.  He started making noises at the deer, only to realize later on that the deer was a decoy. One day Mr.Wilmott, physical education teacher, was walking to a school with a friend while they were talking.  Since he was not paying attention, Mr.Wilmott walked straight into a glass door. Finally, Mrs. Austin, middle school/high school business teacher, was a cheerleader in college. At a home football game, while she was fixing the middle of a banner, the quarterback and the rest of the football team ran straight in to her, knocking her down.  They all proceeded to run over her and not one of them stepped on her.  All of us have had embarrassing moments, so don't be afraid to share those embarrassing moments with each other.

How Well Do You Know Our Kindergarten Teachers?

Mrs. Webster, one of our three kindergarten teachers at Kingman Elementary, has been part of the staff for one year. She graduated from Pratt Community College with an Associate’s degree. Then she went off to Newman University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. Mrs. Webster has had previous teaching jobs in Haven for one year and Pretty Prairie for five years. She says a Bachelor’s Degree is needed to be a teacher. Mrs. Webster says her inspiration to be a teacher is that she loves to work with kids and was previously a para before she started working at Kingman. She chose to work at Kingman over any of the other schools in the area because she loves small communities and the staff members here are great. She has taught third grade for five years in the past. Mrs. Webster does not consider herself a risk taker. If she had to tell her goals to the principal, Mr. Garrison, for next year, Mrs. Webster said that one of her goals would be to become more organized. Her technique to encourage students to learn is positive discipline.

Mrs. Osner has taught at Kingman for six years. She attended college at Kansas State University for four years and graduated in 1987. She has taught at Manhattan, Hutchinson, and St. Patrick’s schools, as well as Kingman. Mrs. Osner wanted to become a teacher because of her love for children. She would choose Kingman over other schools around here because it’s where she lives. She has taught 6th grade for around ten years. Mrs. Osner does consider herself a risk taker. She said that her goals for next year would be to learn more technology and to have more iPads. She got her inspiration for teaching from her 1st grade teacher and her technique to encourage students to learn from Dr. Jean.

Preschool Gets "Royal"

Once upon a time, when three lucky middle schoolers went through the halls of the preschool, they saw a sight that caught their attention. When they peeked into the rooms of the preschoolers and asked what they were doing, they got an answer that took them by surprise! They asked Mrs. Krehbiel and she told them that they got a grant for magnetic building blocks. She then told them about the little engineers building a castle. They thought this was exciting and were very proud.

It's Coming to an End

The Kingman Middle School basketball teams are hoping for a win in the upcoming tournaments. The coaches for both teams are hoping that the teams will win several games. The girls have a great chance of winning. The other teams in the tournament have a good chance of winning, as well, however, if the middle school eighth grade girls win, they will be in first place. If the seventh grade girls win, they will be in fifth place in the tournament. The girl’s games will be played at Wichita Independent, Conway Springs and Douglass on January 13, 16 and 18.

On the other hand, the eighth grade boys have won seven games, but lost six games. The seventh grade boys have won seven games and lost four. The boys’ games are played here on the 13th of January. The other games are being held at Garden Plain and Douglass. The eighth grade boys will most likely be a four seed and the seventh grade is either a three seed or a four seed. There fore, the middle schoolers’ hopes are high that the teams will bring home some wins.

Pre-K Snack Day

How exciting is it to be able to have a healthy snack that is absolutely delicious? Joey Brannan shows his affection towards this month’s snack by raising his trusty spoon in the air and saying, “MMM, I love this yogurt!”  We also found out that Andrea Wood comes once a month and reads a fun story and shares a healthy snack with our exciting preschoolers.  This month’s snack was delicious yogurt, granola, banana slices, and strawberries. We also noticed that the book she read was called “We’re Making Breakfast for Mother,” by Shirley Neitzel. This exciting book is about two young children whose attempt at making breakfast in bed for their unsuspecting mother doesn’t exactly go the way they planned.  It’s a book filled with fun and adventures of young children. The preschoolers seemed to enjoy everything they were given that day. When we left their classrooms, they were having more fun than we have ever seen. As for us, seeing the smiles on their faces were more than enough.
