Obesity is the second most common cause of death that is
preventable. In the year 2010, more than
one-third of American children and adults were overweight or obese. Mississippi is ranked the number one state for
obesity out of all fifty states. There are many long term consequences of being
obese, like cancer, heart disease, and type-two diabetes. There are many short
term affects from obesity, like breathing difficulties, problems with bone
health, psychological and social issues. The U.S. is ranked the number one country
in the world for obesity. Over the course of nine years, the average weight of
Americans has increased by 8.5 pounds. In the year 2003, a study reported that many New
York Elementary students were obese. Obesity is caused by overeating, and
sometimes genetics. The makers of safety
seats are starting to make bigger models, the reason behind this is because small
children are becoming larger. Obesity is a big problem in the U.S. We all need to try to help
prevent it.
