New Student Teacher in Fourth Grade

Mrs. Cooke
What are your plans after helping in Ms. Pickering’s class?
-          Mrs. Cooke wants to get a job and start teaching.  Mrs. Cooke is hoping to get a teaching job here in Kingman Elementary.

What is it like to be a student teacher?
-          Mrs. Cooke says that it is very exciting, but also nerve racking because all of the students do not know her and she is trying to get to know them better.

What grade would you want to teach if you become a teacher?
-          Mrs. Cooke says that she is not picky, but if she had to choose it would be from kindergarten through sixth grade.
Ms. Pickering
What are the advantages of having a student teacher in your classroom?
-         Ms. Pickering says that this is Mrs. Cooke’s second week here. She hasn’t gotten to really experience anything yet. One of the things she has done since Mrs. Cooke has gotten here is that she went and started graded papers for Ms. Pickering without her asking her to. Ms. Pickering said that really helps her out.

Do you get more work done with the help of Mrs. Cooke?
-          Quoted by Ms. Pickering  “Yes, because this is the biggest class I have ever had and it is very useful  to have another adult in the classroom.”

Why did they place Mrs. Cooke specifically in your class?
-          They placed Mrs. Cooke in Ms. Pickering’s class because Mrs. Cooke asked specifically to be in her class or in one of the Kindergarten classrooms. They knew each personally outside of school before she came here.
