Teacher Appreciation Week

Last week was teacher appreciation week!  We appreciate our teachers for teaching us and helping us become contributing members of society.  Teachers play a huge part in life. Our parents are teachers, because they teach us to be respectful.  It is important to thank all teachers for their work and patience.  Many people don’t appreciate their teachers, but they should.  Sometimes students give teachers a lot of stress and grief. Teachers have to stay calm set a good example for their students. They have to maintain their composure and self-control.

Summer Vacation!

Summer time is coming soon and a lot of people will be travelling. Travel is full of good times and bad times and usually people focus on the good times. Students and staff at Kingman Middle School were asked about what things they don’t like about travelling. Two people said that what they don’t like about travelling is that they get bored. Many people get bored while on a vacation, either over time or instantly. Two more people said that the worst thing about their vacation is not being able to see friends. Unless you are lucky enough to bring a friend on your vacation, you are usually not going to see your friends for the whole time of the vacation. One person said that the thing they hate about vacations is that they don’t have a pay check. Wherever your vacation takes you, it will have its good times and bad. But no matter what, you’re still on vacation!

My Favorite Word

Have you ever had a favorite word? Well, I’m pretty sure everyone has come across a word that has piqued their interest sometime. The question “What is your favorite word?” was asked to some KMS students. Megan Kostner said her favorite word was simply “cheese,” and when asked why she chose it, she said, “It’s the first word that came to my mind.” Konnor Thornton said his favorite word was “Calibunstreouse,” which probably isn’t a word. Bailey Beck said his favorite word was “pristine.” Taji McClafflin said her favorite was the word “dizzy,” which she answered while she was spinning in circles. Mrs. Dixon said her favorite word was “love,” and she also said it was her most frequently used word. Mrs. Roe said her favorite word was “really?” which she said was followed by rolling her eyes at her children. Deanna Cheatum said her favorite was in two words connected together, which are “Yeahman.” She said that she frequently used that word when she talks to people.

Conspiracy or Not???

Do you believe the government hides secrets from the public?  100% of all the people asked in this survey said “Yes.” The people asked were Regan LaRue, Megan Kostner, Nathan Myrick, Naomi Spalding, Mrs. Dixon, Kellie Krabel, and Cameron Boyston.  Other than the above people, others also believe that the government hides things from the public.  Some people believe that the government faked the moon landing.  Some also believe that the government is hiding aliens in area 51.  Area 51 is an air force facility that is used as a testing facility. Some people believe that the moon isn’t real and is actually a hologram put in the sky.  The last conspiracy theory is spy sharks, which some people took seriously.  The Egyptian government took this somewhat seriously, but said that it needed to be confirmed.

School's Almost Out for Summer!!

Summertime is approaching for Kingman, and a lot of schools all over the United States, but have you ever wondered when schools in other countries are ending. Here schools starts around the 20th of August, and ends about the 20th of May.  In Chelmsford, England, the Boswells School starts the 3rd of September and ends the 22nd of July. That means their school starts fourteen days later and ends 31 days later. Most schools in the Province of Ontario in Canada start on September 1st and end on June 30th. This means they start twelve days later, and end forty days later. Moscow School District #281 starts school on the 1st of September, and ends school on the 5th of July. That means they start school twelve days later, and end school 48 days later. Though a lot of these schools have more school time, they usually have more days off. This gives you a comparison of our school system with those of other countries.

Simple Question

The KMS students were asked the following question:  “If you were famous, what would you be famous for?”  There were a lot of diverse answers to this question.  Two people who answered the question said “I want to be known for being a kind person.” Of course, these are kind people at our school.  Two other people said “I want to be known around the world for being good at sports.” This tells you these two people are active and love sports.  Therefore, there is kind of a lesson in this question. You can sometimes know a little bit about someone, simply from their response to this simple question.
