National Anthem Day

When was the last time you sang to the nation anthem?  Well, March 3 is National Anthem Day; it is a day celebrating the creation of the national anthem. The United States anthem is the Star-Spangled Banner written by a lawyer.   The Star-Spangled Banner was created during the War of 1812.  It was written by Francis Scott Key when he saw that the flag was still flying over Fort McHenry after a night of fighting.  The war ended when a peace agreement was signed in Belgium.  Francis died about thirty years after the war from pleurisy (inflammation of the lungs). Even though Francis died, the national anthem is still close to many American's hearts.  Most people think that National Anthem Day is on September 14 (the day it was written), but it is on the day congress approved it as the National Anthem.  So, make sure you sing the national anthem on March 3.
