Have you ever broken a bone? Well, Mr. Woodward (the middle
school history teacher) fell on ice while walking his dogs on February 6,
2014. When he fell, he shattered his humerus (the long arm bone that is from
your elbow to the shoulder). He went into surgery on February 7 to
correct the shattered humerus bone. He was in surgery for five hours, three for
the correction of the bone and two for sewing him up. He was required to stay
in to hospital. He also had to wear a cooling pack and a tube that pumps water
into the pack to try to reduce the swelling in his arm by cooling it. He
recently got a new arm brace that is smaller and gives him some range of
motion. At least he didn’t break something worse, like his back. Hoping you’ll
get well soon Mr. Woodward!
